The second Japan-Scotland Community Cultural Event took place at the Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries.

A welcome present for Dumfries and Maxwelltown branch of Royal British Legion Scotland when serving soldier Sergeant Stephanie Broatch, presented a 105mm howitzer engraved shell casing.

One of the last things Robert Burns did was to visit the Brow Well on the Solway. He was advised by his doctor to wade in the sea for his health, but it made him worse and he died three days later. 2026 marks 230 years since the poet’s death and Burns club Presidents from all over Scotland were present at the Well, to mark his passing and pay tribute. There on the Solway, there was no shortage of presidential chains!

As it always does, Dumfries & Galloway rose to the occasion with Armed Forces Week. The royal family have long been supporters of the military and this is the time when the country also recognises the work carried out by our soldiers, sailors and airmen, our veterans, reservists and cadets… We salute you all - and we thank you!

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal attended a special public concert by the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries on Saturday 18 April.
