Girl Guiding Dumfries and Galloway Mark 80 Years of the Queen's Guide Award

Congratulations to Dumfries and Galloway Guides, who have marked 80 years of the Queen’s Guide Award, which was established in 1946 in honour of the late Queen Mother and now has the Duchess of Edinburgh as Patron.

To mark the occasion, a celebratory event was held at Dumfries Museum, with a reunion of many of the region’s Guides, past and present.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Dumfries, Fiona Armstrong, attended with a message from the Duchess of Edinburgh. HRH thanked the many volunteers and said of the Guides: ‘It is a wonderful organisation that brings fun, adventure and fun-loving opportunities to so many girls from so many different backgrounds.’
