Japan has an emperor and royal family, and Miss Armstrong noted that whilst British Kings date back centuries, the Japanese monarchy is the oldest hereditary monarchy in the world. Also present at the event was the Lord Lyon, King of Arms, Miss Armstrong’s husband, Sir Malcolm MacGregor of MacGregor, and Deputy Lieutenant Major Charles Milroy. Piping magnificently at the event was Callum Watson.
