Memories of the late Queen

A welcome present for Dumfries and Maxwelltown branch of Royal British Legion Scotland when serving soldier Sergeant Stephanie Broatch, presented a 105mm howitzer engraved shell casing. 

It came from a salute fired during the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 in September 2022. The casing was one of 96 fired to acknowledge the age of the late monarch. Sgt Broatch was one of the firing party and received the casing as a souvenir of the occasion. This piece of military history was accepted by Richard Reade, Chairman of the Branch. The event at Queen of the South football club was attended by the Lord-Lieutenant of Dumfries, Fiona Armstrong, who praised Sgt Broach, a Doonhamer, for her service and her generosity.
