As a chartered civil engineer, he worked in the water industry in Scotland for three decades and is now a management/leadership consultant.
Charles is President of Royal British Legion Scotland Dumfries - and is a local Convenor for the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.
A member of Dumfries Rotary Devorgilla Club, Charles has led within the community on projects to remove plastic waste from the marine environment.
In his spare time, he goes hill walking, golfing and sailing.
