She has been a journalist for more than 30 years, where she has presented on the Dumfries-based, volunteer-run community radio station, Alive 107.3. She was also an event host.
Andrea is an active member of The Theatre Royal Dumfries Guild of Players and loves treading the boards at Scotland's oldest working theatre. She is also a member of the board of Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival.
Andrea is a Rotarian (Rotary Club of Dumfries), and also volunteers with Queen of the South Community Trust.
She has been a director of Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce, an advisor with Young Enterprise Scotland, and was a baillie Dumfries's Guid Nychburris for three years.
