British Empire Medals presented

The Lord-Lieutenant presented British Empire Medals to Mrs Sue Gourlay and Mrs Ann Rooke who were recognised in HM The King’s New Year Honours.

The ceremony took place in the Council Chambers, Kirkcudbright and was attended by family and friends.  

Mrs Gourley BEM received her medal for services to the community in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright.

Mrs Rooke BEM received her medal for services to education and the community of Castle Douglas.
