Dumfries and Galloway celebrated VE Day 80

Dumfries celebrated VE Day 80 on Saturday 10 May and remembered the sacrifices made by so many. A VE80 Parade took place in Dumfries Town Centre with representatives of our retired and serving Armed Forces personnel, members of our local Cadet Units, and other uniformed organisations taking part. 

His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dumfries, Dr Fiona Armstrong Addressed the Parade. Our region's three Lord-Lieutenants participated in the Royal Salute and Inspection of the Ranks, before a wreath-laying by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dumfries, Dr Fiona Armstrong, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for The Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, The Lord Sinclair, and His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Wigtown, Mrs Aileen Brewis.
