Gretna Marie Curie Fundraising group launch a Field of Hope

31 March 2025

Congratulations to the Gretna Marie Curie Fundraising group who have launched a Field of Hope by the Solway Lodge Hotel. Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end of life charity and uses daffodils as a symbol of the work it does. Over the years Gretna’s volunteers have raised more than £100,000 to help the group give palliative care.

Along with Gretna and Rigg Community councillors, the Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries, Fiona Armstrong, attended the opening of the daffodil bank and praised the work of those involved in the project.

Fiona Armstrong, Lord-Lieutenant of Dumfries said:

These golden flowers, bright symbols of hope, will multiply as the years go on - thank you, you are making such a difference in our communities.
