Congratulations to Karen Wylie

Karen received a British Empire Medal in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours List. It was in recognition of her svices to ending hunger in Lochside. Karen is a local legend for her community efforts. She regularly cooks for a hundred and more people and started the Grub Club to give children a hot meal in the school holidays. Karen was presented with her award by the Lord-Lieutenant of Dumfries, Fiona Armstrong. Also there in the Lochside Community centre was Deputy Lieutenant Lady Jack. The BEM took some time to attach - and there was a cry of joy when it was finally pinned on!
